The Love of Straight Hair

Right now, it seems as if the seasons are having a hard time identifying themselves. Winter doesn’t know if it wants to be Spring and for some strange reason Fall looks as if it’s trying to make a comeback just a tad bit earlier than expected and Summer…. Well it looks like we may not get one of those this year. At first, it may seem as if it’s a bad thing, but look on the bright side….. It gives us lucky ladies a little more time to wear our hair straight.

I know what you’re thinking...really…straight hair? Yes, straight hair. Since the moisture in the air has calmed down a little bit. We can now try some of our favorite straight styles and if you’re one of those ladies that has a difficult time getting her hair straight…. No worries! I have a couple of methods along with a little surprise to get you going.

Step 1.

Find an amazing alcohol free/ paraben free shampoo and conditioner. Some of our favorites are Philip B Russian Amber Imperial Shampoo, $50; net-a-porter.com; Moroccanoil Clarifying Shampoo, $26 and Rahua $32/$34. We know they’re a little pricey, but we promise you they will leave your hair feeling like a million dollars once you’re finished.
Tip: When washing your hair make sure you use a wide tooth comb. This method, helps the conditioner get deep into the follicles leaving your hair ever so soft. Don’t forget to rinse hair with cold water.

Step 2.

Just like alcohol free shampoo and conditioners. Try to find a heat protector with less alcohol as well. Here’s a couple of our favorites, like Crack Leave in Hair 19.99; favorite for Smooth for Sure Blowout Cream 16.00 and Oscar Blandi Pronto Styling Heat Protectant Spray 23.00. Use any one of these products before blow drying or flat ironing.

Step 3.

Flat Ironing. Yes, we love heat just as much as anybody, but ladies try to make sure you have a great flat iron at home. Some of the better ones will let you know what temperature works best for your hair type. Here’s some of our favorite flat irons Coolway system; Agave Healing Vapor Iron; FHI Heat Runway and SalonTech Silicone 450 Flat Iron.
Tip: Ladies just because it goes to 450 does not mean that you should use that setting. Make sure you read the instructions and find the right temperature that works perfectly for your hair texture.

Step 3. PT 2.

Maybe you’re one of those ladies who wants to refrain from using heat. Well, I have a pretty neato surprise. Try the hair tie trick. While your hair is damp, section it out into two low pig tails or one pony in the back of your head. Using soft hair bands (don’t use rubber bands!), section off the hair like the picture above. Make sure to keep the bands loose so ridges don’t form. Keep your hair like this overnight, and take them out in the morning for straighter hair!
Tip: Try sleeping in a silk scarf to help with flyaway strands.

Step 4.

If you’re looking to add a little length but don’t want super long hair or maybe you’re looking to try a funky new do…. Try the Bohyme Straight Collection. Get this… We are currently having a sale on 10, 12 and 14 inches. Here’s a couple of our favorite 2016 sleek and straight styles.
